Frequently Asked Questions About WaZoo:
Q: My tickets were ordered online/on the phone and now are at Will Call. What do I do?
A:You can pick them up at the Zoo’s ticket windows in advance of the event (beginning July 6) during business/operating hours (Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.—subject to change without notice). Please allow one business day from date/time ordering online or over phone to process and placed in Will Call. Or you can pick them up the day of the event, beginning at 9:30 a.m. through the conclusion of WaZoo (10:30 p.m.).
Q: Are tickets available the day of the event?
A: Tickets are available the day of the event. All ticket levels have increased costs for purchasing day of. Beastly Beverage Club tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis, depending on availability. Only 1,400 tickets will be sold for this exclusive area so it is advised you purchase in advance as this area will sell out.
Q: How long can I buy my tickets online? How long are the advance ticket prices available?
A: You may buy your tickets ONLINE from now until NOON the day BEFORE the event (Friday, August 1). In market coupons may not be used online. They may only be used when purchasing tickets at the Zoo’s ticket windows.
Q: What happens in the case of severe weather?
A: WaZoo takes place rain or shine and the majority of the event is outdoors. Zoo staff will closely monitor radar to be aware of potential bad weather before and during the event. If severe weather occurs, activities will be suspended for the safety of all participants to seek shelter.
Q: Will the animals be out?
A: For the safety of our animals they are not out during special evening events. However, "animal ambassadors" from ZooVentures are on site at the beginning of an event to greet you for a short time with their keepers. ZooVenture animals will also mingle in the BBC.
Q: What can I bring into the event?
A: Umbrellas are allowed. Items such as chairs, blankets, coolers and especially cups are NOT allowed into the event. They will need to be surrendered at the Zoo entrance or kept in car. Any left over beer will not be permitted to leave Zoo grounds. Professional level cameras and recording devices are not allowed in the event without notifying Public Relations at (813) 935-8552, ext. 212 in advance.
Q: Is smoking permitted?
A: There are designated smoking areas for cigarettes only (no cigars). Please be aware of these areas and respect them!
Q: What happened to Wines on the Wild Side?
A: "Wines on the Wild Side," the wine garden area, will not be a separate ticket. Some wine will be incorporated into the Beastly Beverage Club.
Q: What are the options for buying my tickets?
A: You may buy tickets online now until the day before the event at noon, on the phone (813) 935-8552, ext. 392) beginning June 14 through the day before the event at 12 noon., and at the ticket windows of the Zoo between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. now through the day of the event. This may be subject to change without notice—it is advised you call in advance to ensure availability.
Q: What is the dress for the event?
A: The event is a casual, held outdoors, therefore susceptible to both the heat and frequently, a passing shower.
Q: What happens if it rains the day of the event or during the event?
A: The event is rain or shine, and because it is a fundraiser for Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo, there are no refunds or exchanges. The only exception is a hurricane watch or warning for Hillsborough County, in which case the event would be postponed by one week or other specified date. Notices will be posted on LowryParkZoo.com, Facebook and Twitter. You can also sign up for the Zoo’s e-newsletter. If the event is postponed, tickets will not be refunded.
Q: What happens if the Zoo loses power during a storm?
A: In the event of a large-scale power outage (in 2012 a downed neighborhood power line created lighting issues throughout the event and delayed entertainment), TECO crews will be dispatched immediately to restore service. The Zoo is equipped with emergency generators to power critical operations such as aquatic animal life support systems. Event areas will have emergency lighting to illuminate pathways.
Q: Are children allowed to attend?
A: While children are always welcome at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo, this is not necessarily an environment for them, especially with the crowds expected. While no one will be turned away, everyone must have a ticket (for children it would be the Designated Driver ticket) and there are no strollers permitted. In addition, anyone under 21 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.
Q: What do I need to get into the event?
A: Everyone will need their drivers' license or state ID to get into the event, in addition to their ticket. IDs will be checked for everyone, regardless of age, so please don’t forget yours at home! You must have your ticket with you when getting your ID checked so visit Will Call before you get in line for the ID check if you need to.
Q: What is the Beastly Beverage Club?
A: We asked our guests what they expected with this event, and they overwhelmingly answered "a nice size crowd with a constant supply of beverages." We have redesigned the Beastly Beverage Club, presented by Blue Moon, to offer a space for only those holding tickets, access to the Safari Lodge. This exclusive area is the only air-conditioned space in the event and features, your own DJ or Live Band, extra food and specialty beers, some wines, and more. Plus, you will be able to enter 45 minutes early through your own entrance!
