COTTONMOUTH
(Agkistrodon piscivorous conanti)
Range:  
Habitat: Swamps, lakes, rivers, irrigation ditches
Diet: Mostly active at night, it preys on frogs, fish, snakes, and birds.

Reproduction: Live-bearer, they mate from spring to fall, and 1-15 young are born in August to September. Females mature in 3 years and give birth every other year.

Also called a water moccasin, this snake swims with its head well out of the water. When annoyed it will expose the light "cotton" lining of its mouth.
