Posting Information: 40 hours
Hours / Week: Temporary, you must be able to work August 11th-15th and a couple other weeks during the summer session.
Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the development, instruction and ongoing evaluation of various camps at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo. Programs are full day weeklong camps. Position will report to the Camp Coordinator.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, implement and evaluate seasonal camps for a variety of age groups
  • Research topics and Develop educational materials
  • Develop and prepare arts, crafts, and games
  • Submit detailed curriculum, supplies lists and schedules to lead camp instructor
  • Report on camp content and progress throughout summer camp season
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Skills Needed:
  • Flexibility to manage workload to ensure timely completion of assignments Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well with all ages and provide a high level of service to zoo visitors, program participants and zoo staff
  • Highly motivated and organized
  • Ability to present research results, recommendations and reports clearly and concisely
  • Animal handling experience
  • Fluent in English
  • Be kind, cheerful, upbeat, respectful of others, and compassionate
Experience Needed:
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in education, zoology or related field preferred
  • 1-2 years experience in a formal or non-formal setting such as a zoo, aquarium or museum
  • Current CPR and First Aid Cards are suggested
Physical Requirements: You must be able to lift 50 pounds, play actively with children on their level, bend over, stand for extensive periods of time, move quickly when necessary, and work and move outside in the typical Florida climate, at times temperatures exceeding 90 degrees.
