Choose from dynamic auditorium programs or interactive classroom programs for an "EdZOOcational" adventure!

Choose from a wide range of themes including Manatees, Rainforest, Africa, Australia, Florida Wildlife, and more! Programs last approximately 45 minutes to 1-hour and include a close and personal animal encounter.

Continuing Education Classes for Teachers

 

 

During the months of August through February we offer monthly continuing education classes for teachers. All classes must be registered for in advance by emailing Erica Clark .

 

Date: 9/13/08, Time: 9AM-3:30PM- Project WILD Workshop: For K-12 educators. 

Project WILD is a supplementary environmental education program emphasizing wildlife. Activities have been correlated to the Sunshine State Standards and FCAT style questions. Each participant will receive a free supplementary guide full of innovative activities. Participating teachers are eligible for in-service credit. This continuing education class is FREE!

Date: 11/01/2008, Time: 9AM-11AM Fight for Florida: For K-4th grade educators.

This workshop provides innovative ideas to help educators teach about past, present, and future trends in human population and the effects on animal habitats.  Bring the conservations lessons we have learned from the endangered Florida Panther and the American Alligator into the classroom and find ways to engage your students in the fight for the conservation of Florida’s disappearing habitat and wildlife through this interactive and exciting workshop at the Zoo! This continuing education class is FREE!

Date: 12/06/08, Time: 9AM-11AM Animals on the Brink: For6th-12th grade educators.

Around the world species are disappearing.  This workshop will explore the factors that are leading to extinction of hundreds of species of wildlife everyday.  Learn what Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is doing for animals that face uncertain futures in the wild.  Find out ways that you can help your students to be a part of the solution with this Species Survival Plan based workshop. This continuing education class is FREE!
