This summer, Zoo School at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo is headquarters for 100 week-long camps for students in K-12th grades. Kids and teens can learn about nature, science and the animal kingdom while hiking through the Zoo, exploring behind-the-scenes and cooling off in the Zoo's water play areas. Adventure camps include animal encounters, keeper talks, educational shows, games, crafts and more.
A Typical Day at Summer Camp Includes:
- Zoo hikes
- Classroom lessons with pictures and artifacts
- Daily animal encounter or animal enrichment
- Activities based on the weekly camp theme
- Arts and crafts projects
- Animal shows
- Animal feedings
- Keeper talks
- Educational videos
- Schedules will vary depending on the grade level, the instructor, and the weekly theme.
Camps are week-long and run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Extended Care is available from 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. for an additional fee.

Day and Holiday Camps for K-5th Grade Students
No school? No problem! We offer day and holiday camps that are both educational and fun. Camps include an opportunity to go behind-the-scenes of the Zoo, make animal enrichments, meet amazing animals up close, enjoy unlimited animal rides, play in the water fountains, and make some new friends.

Day and Holiday camps have a minimum and maximum number of students. Please reserve your space one week prior to camp. If the minimum number is met by that date, registration will remain open until the Friday before the camp date(s).

Parent & Child Classes
Our parent and child classes, Animal Adventure Club for ages 3 to 5 and Family Flock for ages 2-5, provide an amazing opportunity for young children to engage and interact with the animal world. From koalas to camels, hibernation to migration, the topics cover real science content at an age-appropriate level all well encouraging social skills, introducing a classroom setting and creating memories and learning experiences for children and their parents.
Each class will:
- Begin with a look at the animal themed calendar and circle-time song.
- Read an enjoyable children’s story.
- Create an animal craft.
- Meet a special animal friend or
- Build an enrichment for a Zoo animal
- See and touch biofacts like feathers, shells and pelts.
- Discover fun facts about animals and nature.
- Enjoy an animal cracker snack.
Cost: Zoo Pass Holders $15 / Non-Zoo Pass Holders $17 (includes 1 child and 1 adult)
Time: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
NEW! Series Classes! Classes are offered as a 2 to 3 class series all building upon a common theme. Sign up for the series and expand the depth and extend fun of each theme.

Parent's Night Out
Parents drop your kids off at the Zoo for the evening and go out, and have yourself a wild time. We will supply the entertainment, pizza, and Sierra Mist for your child's awesome Zoo experience.
Drop off time: 5:30p.m.
Pick up time: 11p.m.
Fee: $30 for one child, $25 for two or more children (per child rate)
Age: 3-5 (must be potty trained)
Ages: 6-12
Dates: First Saturday of every Month

Stroller Safari
Travel the world from the comfort of our Zoo. This amazing adventure is for adults and stroller-age children. Each Wednesday your “Safari Guide” will guide you through various domains of the Zoo. The tour features exciting behind-the-scenes information about Zoo animals, such as animal names and favorite foods. Your “Safari Guide” will focus on particular animals in the Zoo allowing you and your child to gain a closer interaction with that particular animal. This class is great for both parent and child to learn as well as socialize with the animals.
Each class will:
• Meet a special animal friend or give enrichments to a Zoo animal
• See and touch biofacts like feathers, shells, fur, bones and owl pelts
• Discover fun facts about animals and nature
• An activity page to take home with fun facts taught that day
Program Information:
No reservation necessary. Walk-ups welcomed.
Ages: all ages
Cost: $5 includes 1 child and 1 adult, an additional charge of $3 for additional children or adults. Payment must be made with cash, check, or Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo tokens (tokens can be purchased at the front gate) to your “Safari Guide”. Meet your “Safari Guide” for an exciting adventure each and every Wednesday at the Manatee Fountain.

Home School Programs
Home School classes at the Zoo are interactive and hands-on. Animal based classroom lessons are followed immediately by application with an animal encounter and a Zoo hike. Participants may express their creativity with a themed craft and interact with their classmates in classroom activities. All students receive a certificate of participation. Parent involvement is optional. Any information regarding Home School will be kept confidential. Programs meet Sunshine State Standards in Language Arts and Science. Registration is required two weeks prior to class. Materials will only be provided to paying participants.
Cost: Zoo Pass Holder $15 for 1 child/Non-Zoo Pass Holder $17 for 1 child
Time: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
New date for Grades 3-5 class and we now offer a family class on Tuesday during the time of Home School so you and your younger child can enjoy a similar experience.
Home School classes take place on Tuesdays (Grades K-2) and
Wednesdays (Grades 3-5) the first week of each month.
Children must be at least 5 years old to sign up for the K-2 classes.

Special Events for Pre-School Students
We also offer special Holiday themed Pre-K classes just for 3 to 5 year olds. These camps are 1.5 to 2 hours long and include themes such as Boo Zoo, Gobble Gobble and Winter Wonderland Celebration. Register early. Please note that an adult must accompany preschoolers to the Holiday Classes. Sign up early, camps fill fast.
