FAMILY SLEEPOVER
Manatee Rescue Sleepover, Family Sleepover on Friday, Sept. 18th,  
Learn about what Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo does to save Florida's gentle giants. Tour our rescue facilities and sleep near the manatees in our
air-conditioned Manatee Building.

Program Information:

  • K-5th Grade Home School Students
  • Children must be accompanied by adults. Sorry, no “adults only”
  • $28 per participant

Nocturnal Family Sleepover on Saturday, October 17th
It’s a spook-tacular night to stay at the Zoo, if you dare! You’ll have a frightenly good time as you witness a “beastly encounter” and then become a mad scientist in our monster lab. Look out for the creatures of the night. They’re “lurking” for you on the night hike through the Zoo. Have a screaming good time at Zoo Boo playing “Ghostly Games” and more.

SPECIAL EVENTS FOR PRE-SCHOOL STUDENTS

Holiday Classes for Kids Ages 2-5 and their Families!
Come celebrate the Holidays at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo School.

Cost: Zoo Pass Holders $20/Non- Zoo Pass Holders $25 (includes 1 child and 1 adult). COST DOES NOT INCLUDE ZOO ADMISSION FOR PARENT OR CHILD!   You MUST purchase tickets or use a Zoo Pass to enter the Zoo.  Registration is required no later than 1 week prior to class. An adult MUST accompany the child (ren).  Classes take place rain or shine.  Class sizes are limited to 20 children per day, so register soon.

Boo Zoo
Time: 10:00-11:30 a.m.
When:  Tuesday-Saturday, October 27-31

Wear your favorite Halloween costume and join us for a few tricks and a few treats.  Meet some creepy crawly slippery slimy animal friends, as well as enjoying a visit from The Great Pumpkin and a not so spooky carriage ride!  Take part in creating a ghoulish craft and drink some slimy juice and munch on fingers, oh, I mean yummy snacks.  Beware!

Gobble Gobble
Time: 10:00-11:30 a.m.
When:  Tuesday-Friday, November 17-21

If you like turkey you will love getting to know some a little better.  Join us to celebrate the life of this amazing bird.  Take part in creating a masterpiece to decorate your Thanksgiving Day table.  Enjoy a yummy snack with juice/water and a visit from Tom Turkey!

Winter Wonder Celebration
Time: 10:00-11:30 a.m.
When:  Monday-Saturday, December 14-19

Come celebrate Winter and all the magic it brings.  Join us for a wonderful holiday book by our fireplace (no worries about getting to close, it is pretend).  Bring along your favorite Teddy Bear to snuggle up next to.  We will learn how animals magically change to prepare for the winter season and make a winter present (enrichment) to share with an animal friend at the Zoo.  We will have warm coco or apple cider and a tasty treat along with a visit from an animal friend.

Parent’s Night Out
* NEW AGE GROUP*
Can’t find a reliable baby sitter? Trust your children to the professional Education Department staff at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo. Arrange to drop your kids off at the Zoo School for an evening. While you go out and have yourself a wild time! We will supply the entertainment, pizza and drinks.

Drop off time: 5:30p.m.
Pick up time: 11p.m.
Fee: $30 for one child, $25 for two or more children (per child rate)
Age: 3-5 (must be potty trained)
Ages: 6-8
Dates: First Saturday of every Month

•  First Saturday of every Month except for Nov. will be rescheduled to Nov. 14 due to a fundraising event

•  October and December costs will be $40 for one child, $35 for each
additional child as we will be attending Zoo Boo and Wild Wonderland.

Stroller Safari

Travel the world from the comfort of our Zoo.  This amazing adventure is for adults and stroller-age children. Each Wednesday your “Safari Guide” will guide you through various domains of the Zoo. The tour features exciting behind-the-scenes information about Zoo animals, such as animal names and favorite foods. Your “Safari Guide” will focus on particular animals in the Zoo allowing you and your child to gain a closer interaction with that particular animal. This class is great for both parent and child to learn as well as socialize with the animals.

Each class will:
• Meet a special animal friend or give enrichments to a zoo animal
• See and touch biofacts like feathers, shells, fur, bones and owl pelts
• Discover fun facts about animals and nature
• An activity page to take home with fun facts taught that day
Program Information:

No reservation necessary. Walk-ups welcomed.

Ages: all ages
Cost: $5 includes 1 child and 1 adult, an additional charge of $3 for additional children or adults. Payment must be made with cash, check, or Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo tokens (tokens can be purchased at the front gate) to your “Safari Guide”.  Meet your “Safari Guide” for an exciting adventure each and every Wednesday at the Manatee Fountain.
Every Wednesday, during the months of June, July and August the program begins at 9:45am and concludes at 10:15am.

NEW TIME: Every Wednesday starting September 2, 2009. 
The program will begin at 10 am and conclude10:30 a.m.


VIP Guided Tours
Your program will consist of Behind the Scenes information in addition to creating an enrichment for one of our wonderful animals.
Ages 18 and up


1 hour and 10 minutes (50 minute guided tour, 20 minute enrichment) VIP Tour: Maximum of $120 for up to 8 adults Tours are scheduled 7 days a week

For Saturday and Sunday tours, please book early, Staff availability limited. Payment is due two weeks in advance.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY CAMPS FOR STUDENTS GRADES K-5

NEW HOLIDAY DATES BASED ON THE SDHC APPROVED CALENDAR ON 8/18/09

Enroll your kids in great day camps during their school holidays. A typical day at camp includes:
  • Zoo hikes
  • Classroom lessons with pictures and artifacts
  • Daily animal encounter or animal enrichment
  • Arts and crafts projects
  • Animal shows
  • Animal feedings
  • Keeper talks
  • Educational videos

  • Schedules will vary depending on the grade level, instructor and weekly theme.

    Program Information (all costs per child):
    One-Day Camp: Zoo Pass Holder $55/ Non-Zoo Pass Holder $65
    Five-Day Camp: Zoo Pass Holder $165/Non-Zoo Pass Holder $185.

    Costs include one T-shirt and must be worn daily.


    Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mon-Fri. Drop your child off before 8:55 a.m. or pick them up after 4 p.m.
    Extended Care Hours:
    Drop-off: 7-9 a.m.
    Pick-up: 4-6 p.m

    PARENT AND CHILD CLASSES

    Family Flock
    **NEW CLASS**  Come investigate the animal world as a family!   Siblings and their parents are invited to interact and learn about all the amazing animals together at the Zoo.

    Each class will:

    ADULT HANDS ON EXPERIENCES
    Come see what your kids are talking about! Join our new Adult Continuing Education Classes that give you a chance to get up close and personnel with our animals- just like your kids get at our camps! Each class includes an hour long learning session, lunch, and hands on animal experience you won’t forget!

  • Ages: 18 and up

  • Time: 8:00 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.

  • Zoo Keeping 101
    Sat., October 17
    Learn about the zoo’s exotic animal collection and work side by side with our keepers. This class will get you knee deep in animal information!

    HOME SCHOOL FOR K-5th GRADE 

    Home School classes at the Zoo are interactive and hands-on. Animal based classroom lessons are followed immediately by application with an animal encounter and a Zoo hike.  Participants may express their creativity with a themed craft and interact with their classmates in classroom activities. 

    All students receive a certificate of participation.  Parent involvement is optional. Any information regarding Home School will be kept confidential. Programs meet Sunshine State Standards in Language Arts and Science. Registration is required two weeks prior to class. Materials will only be provided to paying participants.

    Cost: Zoo Pass Holder $15 for 1 child/Non-Zoo Pass Holder $17 for 1 child, per class.
    Time: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    Parents, need time away from the kids to get your shopping done or take care of errands?  Enroll your child to attend this day program which will include Zoo hikes, an animal encounter and enrichment, holiday craft, hot cocoa and cookies.
