Early Zoo Closure
Saturday, August 2 • 2 p.m.

The Zoo will close at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 2 for set up of the WaZoo Beer Fest, which takes place rain or shine that evening. The Billabong and Manatee Fountains will not be operating on 8/2 and 8/3.

World Elephant Day
Tuesday, August 12 • 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

Increasing demand for ivory is driving African forest elephants to extinction. Ninety-six elephants are lost every day in Africa due to poaching. Join the herd and stand with us to help save elephants! Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is part of a global movement known as 96 Elephants, a coalition of wildlife partners focused on securing a U.S. moratorium on illegal ivory, bolstering protection of African elephants, and educating the public about the link between ivory consumption and the elephant poaching crisis. Zoo Run Run 5K
Saturday, August 23 • Check-in 6:30 a.m., Race 7:30 a.m.,
Walk 8 a.m., Kids' Fun Run 9:15 a.m.

Join Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo for the 12th annual Zoo Run Run, a 5K run that winds through the Zoo and along the scenic Hillsborough River.  Children can enter a special "Fun Run" which follows the 5K. 
Walk-ups are accepted the day of the run.

Carnaval de Animales (Carnival of the Animals)
Sunday, September 14 • 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

¡Vamos a celebrar a los animales! -- Let’s celebrate the animals!  Join the Zoo for the first ever Carnaval de Animales, or Carnival of the Animals, highlighting the Zoo’s captivating Caribbean, Central and South American animals. The event will feature character appearances by both “Dora the Explorer” and Diego from Nick Jr.™, live music and fun with Radio Disney Tampa Bay, bilingual interpreters, multi-cultural food, a variety of vendors. 

Activities are included with Zoo admission.


World Rhino Weekend
September 20-21 • 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

Gather your herd and charge to the Zoo for a rhino-sized weekend of discovery and fun.  Stop by the Indian rhino and African white rhino exhibits to learn more about these endangered animals from the zookeepers who care for them. Enjoy a variety of rhino-themed activities and educational displays.

Activities are included with Zoo admission. 


Pumpkin Toss
Friday, October 17 • 11 a.m.

Watch the animals have some Halloween fun with their own pumpkin party, a seasonal treat for the animals and guests at the Zoo. See which animals stomp, chomp, kick, play and pounce on special seasonal treats!

The pumpkin toss is part of the animal enrichment program at the Zoo and is included free-of-charge with Zoo admission.

LEARN MORE ABOUT WAZOO!

Named one of the “10 Great Beer Festivals in the Country” by USA Today, this 19th annual tropical taste explosion features 275 beers and beverages from around the world, food sampling from favorite restaurants, and live music on multiple stages. Beat the heat with the “Beastly Beverage Club” (VIP-level ticket) in the Zoo’s the Safari Lodge -- the only air-conditioned space at WaZoo -- with early entry at 6:30 p.m. The Zoo will close at 2 p.m. August 2 for set up of WaZoo, which takes place rain or shine.  Animals are not on exhibit during the event.

Come creep around ZooBoo at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo -- the largest family Halloween event in Tampa Bay. It’s a ghoulish good time for all. Don’t miss the thrills, chills and family frights with attractions ranging in “scare factor” including haunted houses and trails, Zoo-wide seasonal displays and lights, music, specialty gift shop, night rides and more. NEW this year – Get goosebumps exploring turn-of-the-century England in “London Frightmare,” the newest haunt inspired by the city’s most notorious sites and supernatural legends. Hours are 7-11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 7-10 p.m. on other select nights. Shriek Peek Preview weekend is discounted soft opening. Follow ZooBoo on Facebook.

For 27 years, Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo has served up one of the biggest, tastiest and “wildestall-inclusive food festivals in the Bay area known as Zoofari. Bring your biggest appetite to this annual fundraising feast, only at the Zoo. For one ticket price, guests can go on a sampling safari of the Bay area’s best restaurants, enjoy open bars, browse the “Art Safari” art auction, and dance to live music on multiple stages. The Rhino Club includes early entry and exclusive use of the beautiful Safari Lodge and outdoor plaza. The Zoo will close at 2 p.m. for set up of Zoofari, which takes place rain or shine.  Animals are not on exhibit during the event.
