WHITE FRONTED AMAZON
Amazona albifrons

Range:
Southern Mexico and Central America.

The White Fronted Amazon is a bright green bird with red feathers around its eyes and under its wings. The bird gets its name from its characterisitic small patch of white feathers between the eyes, above the beak.

These birds are not known to be shy and many people have little to no trouble going up to them in the wild. In captivity these birds do quite well, making them excellent pets. The Amazon is very good at imitating human noise and may even speak to you!



Habitat: Dry areas with trees/thornbush savannas and rainforests
Diet: Fruits, seeds, nuts and leaves
Status: Least Concern (IUCN)
Approximate Dimensions of Adult: Length: 10 inches
Lifespan: Up to 40 years.
Reproduction & Offspring: Nests in tree cavities. 28 day incubation period.
