Green and gold tanagers are mostly green birds with yellow bellies. Males wear incredibly bright, rich colors while youths and females have a slightly duller coloration. These birds prefer to live up in the canopy of trees; nesting and even foraging among higher branches. The birds travel in small family groups. The female green-and-gold tanager builds the nest with dried leaves and lichens.
