BANTAM ROOSTER

Bred by Herman Kuhn of Germany at the beginning of the twentieth century, the Bantam Rooster is a smaller than most other roosters. They are usually fierce and will puff up their feathers to look imposing. The roosters are popular pets, particularly in rural areas. Bantam roosters have excellent vision, but very poor hearing. The roosters become sexually mature after five months. The female bantam chicken can lay 90-120 eggs a year and make excellent mothers. The eggs are a brownish color and hatch within 21 days.





Habitat: Light, warm and shaded sheltered land
Diet: Feed, oats and cracked corn
Status: Least concern
Approximate Dimensions of Adult: Length: 3 ft
Weight: 4 lbs
Lifespan: About 10 years.
Reproduction & Offspring: 2 hour incubation period.
