TUFTED DEER
Boselaphus tragocamelus

Range:
Central China and northeastern India
It has small antlers and like related species the males have short tusks. It is well camouflaged, the most prominent feature being a tuft of black hair over the forehead. The tufted deer has a white tail, like the white-tailed deer, and uses its tail to signal in a similar fashion.

Habitat: Forested mountain areas.
Diet: Various native plant materials.
Status: Although suffering from habitat loss, is not considered endangered. (IUCN)
Approximate Dimensions of Adult: Height: 15-21 inches.
Lifespan: Up to 15 years in captivity.
Reproduction & Offspring: A single young is born after a 175 to 185 day long gestation period.
