Wetlands Connection
Come explore our wonderful wetlands. In this program, students will participate in an experiment, have an encounter with an animal ambassador, go on a scavenger hunt, and more as they learn about wetlands and the vital role they play in Florida’s ecology.
Program Information:
• Grades 4th-8th
• 3 hours, with 30 minutes included for lunch
• Minimum total of 15 participants, including chaperones
• Maximum total of 60 participants, including chaperones

Community Service Learning
Inspire environmental stewardship by having your group meet an animal ambassador, learn about the importance of protecting waterways, and then work together to collect recyclables and trash littering the Lowry Park creek of the Hillsborough River.
Program Information:
• Grades 4th-8th
• 2.5 hours, with 30 minutes included for lunch
• Minimum total of 15 participants, including chaperones
• Maximum total of 40 participants, including chaperones
• $17 per student

Student Buffet Lunch Option
Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo now offers a buffet style lunch for school groups.
- Group must be 75 people or more.
- Prices*: Child $6.95 / Adult $8.95 plus tax.
- Must be paid in full prior to dining.
- Reservations must be made at least 5 days in advance.
- Cancellations must be no later than 48 hours prior to the date of service.
- Groups will be slotted for half hour intervals to attend the buffet and must depart within 40 minutes from the start time.
- The buffet may consist of the following choices: hamburgers,hot dogs, mac and cheese, fruit salad, chips, animal crackers, fruit punch and lemonade. Menu may vary.

Heading to the Zoo soon and want to add some educational fun? Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo offers a scavenger hunt for your class or the entire school. Scavenge smartly and hunt hurriedly…the winning group gets a prize!

- African Safari Discover how amazing African animals are adapted to the diverse habitats of this massive continent.
- Amazing Australia “The land down under” is home to some of the most unique and unusual animals on the planet. Walkabout with us as we explore some of these creature features.
- Native Florida Some of the most amazing animals on this planet are in our own backyard. Learn to appreciate Florida’s wildlife and the challenges facing their preservation.
- Rainforest Adventure Covering less than 2% of the Earth’s surface, rainforests are home to 50% of all life! Journey from the top of the canopy to the roots of the trees, as we explore some of the wildlife that call the rainforest home.
- Wildlife Careers Discover what it takes to have a career working with wildlife as you meet some animal ambassadors in this enlightening program.
Florida’s Vanishing Wildlife, Manatee Mania, Precious Primates, African Safari, and other customized options are also offered to accommodate your Pre-K playgroups.

Guided Tour of the Zoo
Learn fun animal facts and interesting information about behind-the-scenes aspects of the Zoo from your own personal tour guide.

- Florida Boardwalk – Encounter the original Florida natives – past, present, and future…unknown.
- Primate World – Bring your group of primates to meet ours and learn about the cool characteristics of our closest cousins in the animal kingdom.
- Asian Gardens – From the unusual tapirs to the rare white Bengal tigers to the massive Indian rhinos, explore the habitats of this unique Asia continent.
- Safari Africa – The African savannah is home to some of the world’s largest land mammals. Come on an African Safari to see what elusive and diverse wildlife you can discover.

Backyard Habitat Classes for Adults
The Zoo is teaching you how to go green! Through classroom time, hands-on activities, hikes through the Zoo, and up-close animal encounters, you’ll learn the basics and tools needed to make your yard a certified wildlife habitat.
Program Information:

• Time: 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

VIP GUIDED TOURS
Experience the Zoo... VIP style. Get in depth knowledge about our animals and insights into how the Zoo works from a behind-the-scenes point of view. You will get to create an enrichment for one of our wonderful animals.
A perfect gift idea for animal lovers and the someone who has it all!
Program Information:
•Ages: 18 & up
•Cost: $200, includes up to 4 adults
•Time: Approx. 1.5 hours
•Tours are scheduled 7 days a week. For Saturday and Sunday tours, please book early.

Great American Teach In 2011-2012
Each year we are pleased to have the opportunity to participate in this important educational opportunity. In 2010, we were humbled to receive more than 150 requests for speakers from teachers, administrators, parents and students. We are proud that 15 staff members and volunteers dedicated time to visit 10 Bay area schools, reaching more than 2,200 children.
At this time, we have extended all available resources for the 2011 Teach-In. Please see below for a number of alternative resources and programs offered year-round, specifically designed to support classroom education and curriculum.
Teacher Resources
• Pre and Post Field Trip Materials --The Zoo School offers curriculum designed to prepare and enhance your students’ learning opportunities at the Zoo.
• Team Leader Meetings and Teacher Workshops – We offer dedicated classroom space for teacher meetings, by reservation.
• Adult Continuing Education Classes – From September -February the Zoo School offers monthly continuing education classes for adults.
