Summer Camps
This summer, the Zoo School at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo is headquarters for more than 100 week-long camps for students in K-th grades. Kids and teens can learn about nature, science and the animal kingdom while hiking through the Zoo, exploring behind-the-scenes and cooling off in the Zoo's water play areas. Adventure camps include animal encounters, keeper talks, educational shows, games, crafts and more.
A Typical Day at Summer Camp Includes:
- Zoo hikes
- Classroom lessons with pictures and artifacts
- Daily animal encounter or animal enrichment
- Activities based on the weekly camp theme
- Arts and crafts projects
- Animal shows
- Animal feedings
- Keeper talks
- Educational videos
Time
Camp begins PROMPTLY at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you need to drop your child off before 8:55 a.m. or pick them up after 4 p.m. you MUST sign up for Extended Care.

March 12–16 (Hillsborough Cnty Spring Break)
The animal world is full of imitators who use appearances or sounds to trick others. From coral snake to parrots to butterflies, learn all about these deceptive look- and sound-alikes as this camp explores some of nature’s very own copy cats.
Animal Architects
April 2–6 (Pasco County Spring Break)
Humans aren’t the only ones who build houses and cities. Learn all about amazing animals homes, from nests to tunnels, in this camp of creative contractors.
Egg-zoo-llent Animals
April 6 (Non-Student Day)
Frogs, lizards, snakes, fish, birds, and even dinosaurs. What do they have in common? They all lay eggs of course! Whether they are squishy or hard, learn about the incredible protection that eggs provide in this egg-citing camp!

Classes for Kids Ages 2-5 & Their Families!
Family Flock
(For Pre-K and younger)
Journey through the animal kingdom with the letters of the alphabet as your guide. Explore the animal world alphabet style. Each class will focus on a specific letter and the amazing, awesome, awe-inspiring animal it represents. Play-based activities may include animal visits, biofact viewing, games, crafts, songs, and stories.
Program Information:
Time: 10:30a.m. – 11:30a.m. or 2p.m. – 3p.m.
•An adult MUST accompany child(ren).
•Classes take place rain or shine.
•Registration is required no later than 1 week prior to the class.
•Class sizes are limited to 15 children per day, so register early!

Tricera-tots Egg Hunt Holiday Class
Join your peewee paleontologist on an egg-straordinary egg hunt. In this expedition you’ll learn about egg laying animals of the past and present. Be sure to bring your baskets!

Home School Programs
Home School classes at the Zoo are interactive and hands-on. Animal-based classroom lessons are followed immediately by application with an animal encounter and/or Zoo Hike. Participants may express their creativity with a themed craft or experiment and also interact with their peers in classroom activities. All students receive a certificate of participation. Parent involvement is optional. Any information regarding Home School will be kept confidential. Programs meet Sunshine State Standards in Language Arts and Science. Materials will be provided only to paying participants. Registration is required two weeks prior to class.
Cost: Zoo Pass Holder $15/Non-Zoo Pass Holder $17
Time: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Children must be at least 5 years old to sign up for the K-2 classes.

- $7 per student
- 1 free chaperone per 5 student ages 5 and under
- 1 free chaperone per 10 students ages 6 and up and mixed groups (ex: a group with K-2nd graders)
- Additional chaperones/teachers $11

- Payment must be made collectively, not individually, and paid on arrival.

Backyard Habitat Classes for Adults
The Zoo is teaching you how to go green! Through classroom time, hands-on activities, hikes through the Zoo, and up-close animal encounters, you’ll learn the basics and tools needed to make your yard a certified wildlife habitat.
Program Information:
• Ages: 18 and up
• Time: 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
• Cost: Zoo Pass Holders $25/ Non-Zoo Pass Holders $40
• Includes Zoo admission
• Classes are intended to build on each other, but may be taken separately

Parent's Night Out
Parents drop your kids off at the Zoo for the evening while you go out and have a wild time! We will supply the entertainment, pizza, and Sierra Mist for your child's awesome Zoo experience.
Program Information:
- Ages 3-12 (must be potty trained)
- • Dates: 1st Saturday of each month (2nd Saturday in August)
- Times: Drop off at 5:30p.m. • Pick up at 11p.m.
- Cost: $30 for one child, $10 for two or more children (per child rate)
- One week advance registration is required to attend Parent's Night Out.

Animal Careers TEEN Workshops
Do you love animals? Do you hope to work in a zoo one day? This 3-hour workshop, for teens ages 13-17, is an opportunity to learn more about animal-related careers, get to know some of the animals at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo up-close and earn service hours by completing a mini-service project!
Workshop includes:
- Introduction to animal careers
- An animal encounter
- A Zoo tour including a “behind-the-scenes” component and an animal enrichment or husbandry experience
- A mini service project
- A certificate acknowledging the service hours earned through the workshop!
