Summer Camps
Experience a Summer of Adventure and Fun!

Register online for more than 100 week-long camps where kids can experience the wild side of summer!

Kids can learn about nature, science and the animal kingdom “outside the classroom” while hiking through the Zoo, exploring behind-thescenes and hands-on interaction.

Summer Camps

This summer, Zoo School at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo is headquarters for 100 week-long camps for students in K-12th grades. Kids and teens can learn about nature, science and the animal kingdom while hiking through the Zoo, exploring behind-the-scenes and cooling off in the Zoo's water play areas. Adventure camps include animal encounters, keeper talks, educational shows, games, crafts and more.

A Typical Day at Summer Camp Includes:

  • Zoo hikes
  • Classroom lessons with pictures and artifacts
  • Daily animal encounter or animal enrichment
  • Activities based on the weekly camp theme
  • Arts and crafts projects
  • Animal shows
  • Animal feedings
  • Keeper talks
  • Educational videos

Schedules will vary depending on the grade level, the instructor, and the weekly theme.

Camps are week-long and run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Extended Care is available from 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. for an additional fee.

No School?  No Problem! The Zoo offers great day camps for Hillsborough County Public School Students Grade K-5.

A typical day at camp includes:
• Zoo hikes

• Keeper talks
• Educational videos

Classes for Kids Ages 2-5 & Their Families!


Family Flock
- Ages: 2-5 years
Play-based activities, may include live animal visits, biofacts, games, songs crafts and fun stories make this a special time for tots and parents to learn about their favorite Zoo animals.  This class uses Growing Up WILD curriculum.


Program Information:
Selected Tuesdays and Thursdays,
10:30-11:30 a.m.
Cost:  Zoo Pass Holders $15 / Non-Zoo Pass Holders $17 (includes 1 child and 1 adult). Additional sibling is $ 5.
Cost does not include Zoo admission..

Registration is required no later than 1 week prior to class. An adult must accompany the child(ren).  Classes take place rain or shine.

Home School Programs

Home School classes at the Zoo are interactive and hands-on. Animal based classroom lessons are followed immediately by application with an animal encounter and a Zoo hike. Participants may express their creativity with a themed craft and interact with their classmates in classroom activities. All students receive a certificate of participation. Parent involvement is optional. Any information regarding Home School will be kept confidential. Programs meet Sunshine State Standards in Language Arts and Science. Registration is required two weeks prior to class. Materials will only be provided to paying participants.

Cost: Zoo Pass Holder $15 for 1 child/Non-Zoo Pass Holder $17 for 1 child
Time: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

New date for Grades 3-5 class and we now offer a family class on Tuesday during the time of Home School so you and your younger child can enjoy a similar experience.

Home School classes take place on Tuesdays (Grades K-2) and Wednesdays (Grades 3-5) the first week of each month.

Pre - K - 12

  • $7 per student
  • 1 free chaperone per 10 students (ages 6 and up)
  • 1 free chaperone per 5 students (ages 5 and under)
  • Additional Chaperone/teachers $11.  Senior chaperones (60+) $10.
  • Free Parking
  • Minimum of 15 paying visitors for group rate
  • Prices subject to change
  • Payment must be made collectively not individually and paid on arrival.

Holiday Classes for Kids Ages 2-5 and Their Families!

Come celebrate the Holidays at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo School.

Cost: Zoo Pass Holders $20/Non- Zoo Pass Holders $25 (includes 1 child and 1 adult).

COST DOES NOT INCLUDE ZOO ADMISSION FOR PARENT OR CHILD!   You MUST purchase tickets or use a Zoo Pass to enter the Zoo

Registration is required no later than 1 week prior to class. An adult MUST accompany the child (ren).  Classes take place rain or shine.  Class sizes are limited to 20 children per day, so register early.

Boo Zoo
Time: 10:00-11:30 a.m.
When:  Wednesday-Friday, October 27-29

Wear your favorite Halloween costume and join us for a few tricks and a few treats.  Meet some creepy crawly slippery slimy animal friends, as well as enjoying a visit from The Great Pumpkin and a not so spooky carriage ride!  Take part in creating a ghoulish craft and drink some slimy juice and munch on fingers, oh, I mean yummy snacks.  Beware!

Gobble Gobble
Time: 10:00-11:30 a.m.
When:  Wednesday-Friday, November 17-19

If you like turkey you will love getting to know some a little better.  Join us to celebrate the life of this amazing bird.  Take part in creating a masterpiece to decorate your Thanksgiving Day table.  Enjoy a yummy snack with juice/water and a visit from Tom Turkey!

Winter Wonder Celebration
Time: 10:00-11:30 a.m.
When:  Wednesday-Friday, December 15-17
Winter Wonder Celebration!
Come celebrate Winter and all the magic it brings.  Join us for a wonderful holiday book by our fireplace (no worries about getting to close, it is pretend).  Bring along your favorite Teddy Bear to snuggle up next to.  We will learn how animals magically change to prepare for the winter season and make a winter present (enrichment) to share with an animal friend at the Zoo.  We will have warm cocoa or apple cider and a tasty treat along with a visit from an animal friend.

Parent's Night Out

Parents drop your kids off at the Zoo for the evening and go out, and have yourself a wild time. We will supply the entertainment, pizza, and Sierra Mist for your child's awesome Zoo experience.

Drop off time: 5:30p.m.

Pick up time: 11p.m.

Fee: $30 for one child, $25 for two or more children (per child rate)

Age: 3-5 (must be potty trained)

Ages: 6-12

Dates: First Saturday of every Month

DROP & SHOP

Weekend Day Help during the Holiday Season
Parents, need time away from the kids to get your shopping done or take care of errands? Enroll your child to attend this day program which will include Zoo hikes, an animal encounter and enrichment, a visit to the reindeer, holiday craft, hot cocoa and cookies. 

Program Information:
• Ages 3-8 (young students must be potty trained)
• Cost: $30 for one child, $10 for each additional child per date
• Time: 9:30 a.m.—3:00 p.m.
•  Dates: December 11, 12, 18, 19,
