Animal Careers Teen Workshops

Do you love animals? Do you hope to work in a zoo one day? This 2.5-hour workshop for teens, ages 13-17, is a perfect opportunity to learn more about animal-related careers, to get to know some of the animals at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo up-close and to earn service hours by completing a mini-service project!

Workshop includes:

  • Introduction to animal careers
  • An animal encounter
  • A Zoo tour including a “behind-the-scenes” component and an animal enrichment or husbandry experience
  • A mini service project
  • A certificate acknowledging the service hours earned through the workshop

Dates:
Monday, June 17, 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Saturday, July 20, 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Cost: $25*

*Does not include Zoo admission before or after workshop.

LIMITED TIME - Birthday Parties with a Tyrannosaurus Twist

Give your child memories that will last until the next ice age with these special dinosaur themed birthday parties at the Zoo!

  • Saturdays and Sundays from 10-11:30 a.m. or 1-2:30 p.m. or select nights from
    5:30-7 p.m.
  • Same inclusions as daytime birthdays, but with admission for the entire party into the Zoo and DinoQuest2 for daytime parties or into DinoNites for evening parties
  • Daytime dinosaur party prices start at $250 and evening dinosaur party prices start at $230

Family Flock

(For Pre-K and younger)

Journey through the animal kingdom using the letters of the alphabet as your guide. Each class will focus on a specific letter of the alphabet and the amazing, awesome, awe-inspiring animal it represents. Play-based activities may include animal visits, biofact viewing, games, crafts, songs, and stories.


Program Information:

  • 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
  • An adult MUST accompany child(ren).
  • Classes take place rain or shine.
  • Registration is required no later than 1 week prior to class.
  • Class sizes are limited so register early!


Cost (includes 1 child and 1 adult):

  • Zoo Pass Holders $15
  • Non-Zoo Pass Holders $17
  • Additional siblings in household are $5 each
  • Does not include Zoo admission.  You must purchase tickets or use a Zoo Pass to enter the Zoo before or after class.

Parents' Night Out


Looking for more than just a babysitter? Trust your children to the professional Education Department staff at the Zoo. Take advantage of our reliable service that includes entertainment, a pizza snack, and drinks while you go out and have a wild time!


Program Information:

• Ages: 3-12 (must be potty trained)
• 1st Saturday of each month (2nd Saturday in August)
• Drop off at 5:30p.m. Pick up at 11p.m.
• $30 for one child, $10 for each additional child ($40 for one child, $20 for each additional child for April's Prehistoric DinoNite Out)
• One week advance registration is required

Summer Camps

This summer, the Zoo School at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo is headquarters for more than 100 week-long camps for students who have completed K-8th grades. Kids and teens can learn about nature, science and the animal kingdom while hiking through the Zoo, exploring behind-the-scenes and cooling off in the Zoo's water play areas. Adventure camps include animal encounters, keeper talks, educational shows, games, crafts and more.

A typical day at Summer Camp Includes:

  • Zoo hikes
  • Classroom lessons with pictures and artifacts
  • Daily animal encounter or animal enrichment
  • Activities based on the weekly camp theme
  • Arts and crafts projects
  • Animal shows
  • Animal feedings
  • Keeper talks
  • Educational videos

Time
:
Camp begins PROMPTLY at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you need to drop your child off before 8:55 a.m. or pick them up after 4 p.m. you MUST sign up for Extended Care.

General Summer Camps:
Annual Zoo Pass Holder: $170/child per week
Non-Zoo Pass Holder: $190/child per week


Shutterbug Camps:
Annual Zoo Pass Holder: $190/child per week
Non-Zoo Pass Holder: $210/child per week
*We loan Fisher Price Kid Tough digital cameras, but if you would like to use your own personal camera, feel free to bring it along.


Animal Handling/Animal Trainer Camps:
Annual Zoo Pass Holder: $205/child per week
Non-Zoo Pass Holder: $225/child per week


Extended Care:
Morning: 7-9 a.m., $25/week
Afternoon: 4-6 p.m., $25/week
Extended care can only be for the entire week. Sorry, partial week extended care is not available.
